This third issue of the Gitarama Presbytery Newsletters appears in the course of 100 days of
commemorating the 1994 genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda. The theme for the 22nd
commemoration was formulated by the National Commission of Fighting against Genocide
(CNLG) as follows : “Commemoration of the genocide against Tutsi and fighting against genocide
ideology”. As usual, Gitarama Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda joined other
Rwandan citizens and friends to remember victims of the Genocide, to support survivors and
fighting the genocide ideology in a faith based perspective.
The present issue mainly focused on the ceremony of commemoration in Gitarama parish, social
assistance toward people in need, health and sanitation related initiatives as well us some topic for
joint intercessions. I express once again my deep gratitude to different partners who never cease to
contribute to the realization of the Mission of both spiritual and physical welfare of people that
God assigned to Gitarama Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda.
May our Heavenly Lord help us to build a society free of genocide ideology and maintain us in
the unity of the Triune God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit ; Amen.
